Gary Lightbody

This post comes in the wake of a particularly successful session of Snow Patrol. Okay, so they're mainstream, they're pop, they're the decaf of the music world. But they rule. Just like Zero, but in a different way. Their music has style, panache and a certain something that I like to call Northern Irish charm which only bands like The Divine Comedy and Stiff Little Fingers have because they are the only other bands I have heard that come from Northern Ireland, that is.

Happiness is a warm gun and somethingawful.

The wait right now is for the new Brand New (*it's like rain, on your wedding day*) album which the whole of the internet community tells me is going to be brilliantly brilliant. There was a time when purevolume.com/brandnew was owned by some kids with too much time and a rotten band. Now I'm contemplating Latin.

What's this?

Here's my top 5 bummers of 2006 (subject to change till 01 January, 2007).

5. Audioslave - Revelations (I deserved more Chris, much more)
4. Breaking Benjamin - Phobia (Wtf?)
3. Jet - Shine On ('nuff said)
2. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain (at the risk of the wrath of the indie world)
1. Angels & Airwaves - We Don't Need to Whisper (cos they're gonna keep us on mute anyways)

Tenacious D better rock my socks off.
